Dashboard

The dashboard shows a calendar view of your cash flow with daily balances and transaction pills.

Summary strip

At the top you'll see this month's income, expenses, net cash flow, and your runway forecast. Use the Incl. future transactions toggle to control whether future-dated transactions are included in the totals. Runway always includes future expenses but respects the toggle for future income.

Calendar

• Each day cell shows projected and cleared balances with trend arrows.
• Transaction pills are color-coded — green for income, red for expense.
• Click any date to add or view transactions.
• Drag and drop transaction pills between dates to reschedule them.

Views

Toggle between Month and Week views using the buttons in the top-right. Use the arrows or click the month label to navigate to any month.

Transactions

Adding

Click a date on the calendar or press Ctrl+N. Fill in type (income/expense), description, amount, and optionally a memo, account, category, and recurrence. You can also add transactions from the register view.

Inline category creation

Click the + next to the Budget Category dropdown in either the calendar or register transaction form to create a new category or subcategory without leaving the form.

Editing

In the transaction modal, click a description or amount to edit it inline. In the register, use the edit controls on each row.

Recurring

Set a transaction to repeat weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly. Recurring instances appear as virtual entries on future dates — they can't be edited individually, but the template can be changed.

To post a recurring entry, click the Post button on any virtual occurrence in the calendar modal or register. This creates a real transaction on that date that you can clear, edit, or delete like any normal entry.

To end a recurring series, click the End button on any future occurrence in the calendar modal or register. That occurrence and all future ones will stop appearing, while earlier ones remain unchanged. To resume, click Ended — resume? on the original transaction.

Transfers

In the register view, use the transfer button to move money between accounts. Transfers appear in both accounts with matching amounts.

Clearing & reconciliation

• Cleared — mark a transaction when it's posted at your bank. Affects the cleared balance.
• Reconciled — use reconciliation mode in the register to lock in cleared transactions against your bank statement.

Accounts

Accounts appear in the sidebar. Each shows its current balance.

• Add — click + under Accounts. Set a name and opening balance.
• Edit — click the pencil icon on an account chip.
• Delete — click the × icon. All transactions for that account will be deleted.
• Register — click an account name to open its register, a table view of all transactions for that account with running balances.
• No Account — shows transactions not assigned to any account. You can reassign them from there.

Register features

• Click column headers to sort by date, description, income, or expense.
• Duplicates toggle highlights potential duplicate transactions.
• Reconcile mode lets you match cleared transactions to your bank statement.
• The ⌖ button scrolls the table back to today's row.

Budget

The budget view organizes your spending and income into a three-level hierarchy.

Category levels

1. Category — top-level groups (e.g., Housing, Food). These are containers — you can't assign transactions directly to them.
2. Subcategory — assignable items (e.g., Rent, Groceries).
3. Sub-subcategory — optional further breakdown (e.g., Electricity under Utilities).

Budgeting

• Enter a budget amount for each subcategory. Supports math expressions like 500 + 200.
• Click the ⋮ button next to any input to prefill it with Projected This Month (all real and recurring expenses for the month) or Spent Last Month (actual spending from the prior month).
• The Available to budget header shows how much of your balance is unallocated.
• Unspent budget rolls over to the next month automatically.

Organizing

• Drag and drop categories and subcategories to reorder or move between groups.
• Use the filter dropdown to show only overspent or overfunded categories.
• Collapse and expand categories with the arrow buttons.

Reports

Toggle between Spending, Revenue, and Income vs Expense reports using the buttons at the top.

Spending report

Shows total expenses for the month. Includes a pie chart and category breakdown with percentages and subcategory details.

Revenue report

Shows total revenue with a pie chart of income by source and a breakdown by category.

Income vs Expense report

A month-by-month comparison of all categorized income and expenses in two tables. Each row is a category with subcategory detail rows beneath it. Columns are months, plus Average and Total columns at the far right. A Net Income row at the bottom shows income minus expenses for each month. Defaults to year-to-date but can be switched to a single month.

Use the month navigation to view reports for any month. Only transactions up to today are included.

Runway & Forecast

The runway tells you how many months your money will last based on your current transactions and recurring entries.

• Displayed on the dashboard summary strip with a progress bar toward your goal.
• The forecast shows the specific date your balance would go negative, or confirms it stays positive for 3+ years.
• Include future transactions — toggle this to include or exclude future-dated transactions from the dashboard totals. When off, income/expenses/net only count transactions up to today. Runway always includes future expenses (otherwise it can't project) but excludes future income when the toggle is off.
• Runway goal — set your target months in Settings (default: 6). The progress bar fills based on this goal.

Data & Backups

All data is stored in your browser's local storage. Use the ⋯ menu in the top-right to manage your data.

• Download backup — saves a JSON file to your computer.
• Import backup — restores from a previously downloaded JSON file.
• Snapshot to browser — saves a quick in-browser backup to local storage (up to 3 kept). These do not leave your browser — download a backup for a portable copy.
• Export as JSON/CSV — exports transaction data for use in spreadsheets or other tools.
• Reseed demo data — replaces all data with sample transactions. You'll be asked to confirm and given a chance to back up first.
• Clear all data — permanently deletes everything. You'll be asked to confirm and given a chance to back up first.

Backup reminders: A reminder to download a backup appears automatically based on the interval you set in Settings (default: 7 days).

Currency: Choose your currency in Settings. Supports USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, NZD, JPY, CHF, SEK, NOK, DKK, MXN, BRL, INR, and ZAR. All amounts display in your selected currency.

Important: Since data lives in your browser, clearing browser data or switching browsers will lose it. Download backups regularly.
